Did you know that PowerFlow sells 3M™ Liqui-Cel™?

When you require high water quality without contamination, 3M™ Liqui-Cel™ Membrane Contractors offer an ideal solution for reliable and efficient gas control with low extractables. Unlike conventional Forced Draft Deaerators or chemical alternatives 3M Liqui-Cel are closed systems that may help reduce the risk of introducing environmental contaminants and do not require chemicals to operate.

Dissolved Gas Control

  • Various capacity options to meet process flow and performance requirements
  • Stainless steel housing options for hot sanitization
  • Compact design that operates in-line
  • Low extractables and chemical-free operation

Some of the sparkle, taste and texture of our favorite drinks are due to controlled levels of dissolved gases. 3M™ Liqui-Cel™ Membrane Contactors operate in-line and provide precise dissolved gas control in a compact design enabling a small system footprint. Whether it’s deoxygenation to help protect shelf life or adding fizz, gas control with 3M™ Liqui-Cel™ Membrane Contactors may help improve product quality, boost production efficiency and consistency in process steps where gas transfer is critical, such as blending or dilution.

Did you know that PowerFlow offers high flow capability in a compact design with 3M™ High Flow Filter System?

High Flow Capability

The 3M™ High Flow Filter System is designed to accommodate flow rates of up to 500 gpm (113m3/hr) in a single 60” (1524mm) length filter cartridge. The result? Fewer filter cartridges to maintain your process flow requirements. In fact, 3M High Flow filter systems require as few as one-tenth the number of filter cartridges as conventional 2.5” (63.5mm) outer diameter (OD) filter systems where flow rates are 200gpm (45m3/hr) or higher.

High Quality, Highly Efficient Design

A compound radial pleat design helps maximize the usable surface area of each filter. Blown microfiber forms the basis of the filter media, which is manufactured to tightly-controlled fiber diameter specifications, producing a media with absolute-rated particle retention characteristics. The 3M manufacturing process embosses the media to produce a more uniform pleat pattern, which, allows greater utilization of the media by evenly distributing the process fluid throughout the entire filter structure. This results in consistent particle retention.

Lower Capital Investment Costs and Compact Design

Fewer required filter cartridges combined with an outside-to-inside flow path reduces the size of the housing requirements for your application. The 3M High Flow filter housing takes up as little as one-half the size of conventional 2.5” (63.5mm) OD filter cartridge housing for a given flow rate.

Six Benefits of Varnish Mitigation System for Turbine Lube Oil Systems

Varnish is a type of film or coating that can form on the surfaces of turbine lube oil systems. It is a byproduct of the oil's chemical breakdown and can be caused by factors such as high temperatures, oxygen exposure, and contaminants in the oil. Varnish can accumulate on surfaces such as bearings, gears, and servo valves, leading to a variety of issues that can impact the performance and reliability of the turbine.

One way to address the issue of varnish in turbine lube oil systems is with a varnish mitigation system. There are several benefits to using such a system, including:

  1. Improved reliability: Varnish buildup can cause equipment failures, unplanned downtime, and other reliability issues. By removing varnish from the system, a varnish mitigation system can help improve the overall reliability of the turbine.
  2. Enhanced performance: Varnish can negatively impact the performance of turbine components by reducing their efficiency and effectiveness. A varnish mitigation system can help restore the performance of these components, leading to improved overall performance of the turbine.
  3. Increased energy efficiency: Varnish buildup can cause increased friction and wear on turbine components, leading to higher energy consumption. By removing varnish, a varnish mitigation system can help reduce energy consumption and increase the efficiency of the turbine.
  4. Extended equipment lifespan: Varnish buildup can shorten the lifespan of turbine components by causing wear and damage. By removing varnish, a varnish mitigation system can help extend the lifespan of these components and prolong the overall lifespan of the turbine.
  5. Improved maintenance intervals: Varnish buildup can require more frequent maintenance and component replacements, leading to increased costs and downtime. A varnish mitigation system can help extend maintenance intervals and reduce the overall cost of maintaining the turbine.
  6. Enhanced safety: Varnish buildup can lead to increased risk of equipment failure, which can pose safety hazards for personnel and the surrounding environment. By removing varnish, a varnish mitigation system can help reduce the risk of equipment failure and improve safety.

There are several types of varnish mitigation systems available, each with its own specific features and capabilities. Some systems use filtration to remove varnish particles from the oil, while others use chemical additives to prevent varnish formation or break down existing varnish. It is important to carefully evaluate the needs of the specific turbine lube oil system and choose a varnish mitigation system that is appropriate for the application.  PowerFlow Fluids Systems makes both filtration-based and ion exchange-based varnish mitigation systems.  Check them out here https://www.pwrfs.com/powerflowfluidsystemsvarnishmitigationsystems/

Implementing a varnish mitigation system can require a significant upfront investment, but the long-term benefits in terms of improved reliability, performance, energy efficiency, equipment lifespan, and safety can make it a worthwhile investment. It is important to carefully consider the costs and benefits of a varnish mitigation system and consult with experts to determine the best solution for a specific application.
